Hala Fauzi
Hala has been dancing to the rhythms and melodies of the Middle East since she was a child in Alexandria, Egypt. Her dance style is heavily influenced by the folkloric Egyptian traditions and reveals the cultural, historical and native dimensions of the dance.
Hala founded her dance company to present and educate the public about the wide spectrum and richness of what is commonly known as "belly dance." The Hala Dance Troupe was selected from over 115 dance companies to perform at the 26th annual San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival in 2004. Hala was invited to showcase her native art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts in Oct 2005 in celebration of the King Tut exhibit. She is actively involved in preserving the history and traditions of the dance. In addition to teaching classes to students of all ages and abilities, she provides information and assistance to schools, cultural institutions & web-magazines on the origin and evolution of this beautiful art form.
Hala will be teaching Middle Eastern Dance (Dance 55) during Winter Quarter, M/W 2:15-3:45 PM.
