Lalo Izquierdo
Born in Lima, Peru, Mr. Lalo Izquierdo is a founding member of the important Afro-Peruvian Cultural Association Peru Negro, a well-known ensemble that has traveled the world promoting Peruvian Black Culture. He is a master choreographer, dancer, percussionist and folkloric innovator.
Lalo has been teaching dance for the past 35 years and is currently working with De Rompe Y Raja Cultural Association. His outstanding performances have been acclaimed in artistic events such as the Ethnic Dance Festival 2000, 2001 & 2006 People Like ME (Educational Programs), KARUMANTA Project, “Zamacueca” Latin American dance program, Recu-Tecu (Afro-Peruvian opera), El Cajon Afro-Peruvian Drum program, and a Cristo Moreno Musical Theater piece.
Lalo will be guest instructor in the Afro-Peruvian Dance class (Dance 43) during Autumn Quarter, M/W 11 AM-12:25 PM.
